16 55 vs 16 80
Sigma: The Sigma 18-50mm is extremely compact for a lens with a constant f/2.8. At 285g it is not much heavier than a Fujifilm f2 prime lens and less than the Fuji 18-55mm. This makes it a great lens for street photographer but can also be used for events. The knock that I had on the Fuji 18-55 is the maximum aperture at F4 on the telephoto.

Sep 6, 2019 · 4/ Size and weight; the XF16-80 weighs 440g compared to 490g. Fully zoomed out the XF16-80 is about 27mm (just over 1 inch) smaller. 5/ Filter size; it uses the 72mm filter size, which is a bit more common amongst XF lenses compared to the 67mm of the XF18-135. Good if you have invested money in filter sets.

Jan 15, 2021 · And other than focal range (and starting at 16mm), XF 16-80mm is weather resistant, has better optical image stabilization and marked aperture ring, so there`s more to it. On the other hand, XF 18-55mm is definitely more compact (and it`s noticeable) I still don’t get the love for the 16-80mm.

In the shooting range that covers 18-55 mm, is the new lens image quality as good as or better than the older 18-55. I.e, is it worth getting the new lens with some extra

Feb 1, 2021 · The 18-55 is an excellent lens. It is almost a no compromises kit lens with the aperture flexing as you zoom. I personally like the 16-80mm f4 but I wanted the slightly wider and longer lens but it has a 1 stop (less) difference at the wide end. The real downside is its size as it is quite a bulky lens.

While the Sony 16-80mm offers slightly more reach, it does so by offering a variable aperture; some people will value the constant ƒ 2.8 aperture of the 16-50mm. The 16-50mm offers slightly sharper performance in some focal lengths, the 16-80mm is sharper in others, but the performance of the 16-50mm is probably more consistent overall.

Feb 26, 2021 · At the long end, the 18-55 can pretty well match the sharpness of the 16-55, but not at 18, 23, or 35mm. Even at the long end, portraits with the 18-55 at F4 have less subject isolation/pop than the 16-55 at F2.8, which gives the red-badge zoom greater apparent sharpness. The 16-55's sweet spot is F/2.8 - F5.6.

Feb 25, 2020 · Sony 16-55 f2.8 G (2019 release) Seems to behave like a typical Sony lens. The drop in sharpness from center to the edge is massive compared to what you are used to with Olympus 12-40. So yeah, not as good. Fuji 16-80 f/4 (2019 release) Mediocre lens in terms of image quality considering the price (in absolute terms, ignoring the price, it's ok).

Feb 3, 2019 · This also made me hessitate to go for the 16-80 first. The 16-80 f/2.8-4 is about one stop faster and sharper. Moreover it features a lot of Nikon's advanced coating and low dispersion glass. This results in superior contrast in difficult light -- like backlight photography that many do nowadays.
